The Israeli and Palestinian Conflict

Daily clashes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank usually starts with the burning tires in the streets and followed by Palestinian children armed with stones ambushing the Israeli army patrols. Then a game of cat and mouse begins and the outcome will be of somebody getting hurt, sometimes killed. This conflict has been around for a very long time, but the actual "Intifadah" or Palestinian uprising began in the late 1980's. The tension and violence persist today and has worsen since then. It only resembles the highs of the conflict. The Palestinians have been opposed to the state of Israel since it cost them the expulsion of their own land. The land of Palestine began to be occupied by the Jews by the end of the second world war, by then the country was under British rule. The Jews were successful in their own struggle of establishing their own state, which in turn they named Israel. Most Palestinians were expelled into the remaining pieces of land in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. Many became refugees there and in the nearby Arab countries of Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. My first visit to Israel and Palestine was in 1988. I returned later for a total of 3 trips. This is their story...
